  Digital Storytelling The World of Digital Storytelling | by Kyle Klocke | Medium      Hello again! My blog post today reflects on the reading I did this week concerning digital storytelling. I have to admit that I am not very familiar with this type of storytelling and am not certain that I have ever created a digital story in my years of teaching or in any of my graduate courses. The closest thing to digital storytelling I may have done is when I created a PowerPoint presentation of my vacation to Mexico for my Spanish II classes. The students were learning about the difficult concept of describing an event in the past using the preterite and imperfect tenses. To help them with this, I put photos from my trip on slides and then added text below the photos to describe the setting, situation, or event that included the correct use of the preterite and imperfect tenses. In order to locate such a blog, I first looked through the blog sites that our professor had provided in the Resources section on Blackboard. Although these sites are interesting, they are different from what I had in mind. I wanted to find a blog that includes information about storytelling and tips for storytelling, especially in regard to doing so with older children and teens. I find working with teens and young adults very interesting, and I would like to work in a public school library at the secondary level.      Story Props – Developing Storytelling – Mothering A Rainbow            Hi again! For this post, I have decided to do a reflection on my storytelling experience using props that I completed last week. This was my second attempt with storytelling, and I must say I was not very excited to do this activity. I had enough trouble with simply holding a book and showing the pictures when I did a read aloud for my first storytelling experience. I could not even fathom holding a book to read the text and show the illustrations as well as incorporating props at the same time. I knew it would be a difficult task. Before taking this course, I believed that I had a decent background in storytelling, or at least reading aloud. This is my very first blog post ever, and I ask that you be patient with me as I reflect on this week's module about storytelling. When I think of storytelling, the first thing that comes to mind is the many stories my mom shared about growing up in Charleston from the 1940s through the 1960s. I loved hearing her tales of summers on Sullivan's Island, wearing heels and dresses to football games, and shagging the night away. Her storytelling may not have been the caliber of professional storytelling today, but it engaged me and helped me understand how she became the incredible woman she is now. I especially loved learning more about my grandparents - their careers, community involvement, travels, and most importantly, the values that they passed on to her.
